2445 Monroe Street, Toledo, OH 43620
Learn about Ohio’s rich legacy of using rustic structures in our natural areas. Terry Seidel, Director of Land Protection for The Nature Conservancy in Ohio, will present on “parkitecture”, a style of architecture developed in the 1900-1940’s through the efforts of the U.S. National Park Service to create buildings that harmonize with nature.
Terry will discuss how historic rustic park architecture has served as a bridge to the natural world, allowing visitors to be exposed to “the wild” without being fully immersed in it. Experience the beauty of these organically constructed works of art that utilize native bedrock, local timber and hand craftsmanship. Numerous examples of these one-of-a-kind structures found in parks and forests throughout the state will be featured, including many from Northwest Ohio. Presented in partnership with the Toledo Museum of Art.
Please RSVP to Meg Boley at meg.boley@tnc.org or (614) 339-8119 by April 16, 2018.
