Conservation At Work: Metroparks Seed Nursery

The Blue Creek Nursery, established by Metroparks Toledo in 2004, produces locally sourced seed and other plant materials and has the capacity to restore or enhance approximately 200 acres per year. Tour the nursery to get a closer look at the processes involved in supporting restoration initiatives throughout the Metroparks and the Oak Openings Region. Then visit the new Cannonball Prairie Metropark with a naturalist to see a natural area recently restored from farm field to native prairie utilizing seed from the nursery.

This program will begin at Blue Creek Metropark at the nursery and end at Cannonball Prairie Metropark. Transportation between parks not provided. Registration required.

Wear shoes appropriate for a short hike. This program runs rain or shine. Please dress for the weather. Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.

All participants and staff that have received the COVID-19 vaccine are not required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors. Those who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine must wear a mask for the duration of the program, unless outdoors and socially distanced. Mask breaks are allowed when appropriate. Social distancing will be encouraged when possible.
