Invasive Shrub Removal – Willow Metropark

August 28 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Overview:

Join us in removing invasive shrubs, such as Autumn Olive, from Willow Metropark.  We will meet at the Big Bend Picnic Shelter (look for the Metroparks vehicle and flag). Volunteers receive free day entry to the park, just let the toll booth attendant know you are at the park for a volunteer workday.

All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, as well as a water cooler and snacks. We will provide gloves, but feel free to bring your favorite pair! Please be sure to dress for working outdoors and in areas that may include poison ivy (long pants, layered clothing, closed-toe shoes, rain gear, hat, sunscreen, etc.).

Volunteers are an essential part in our fight against invasive species and in our work to restore and conserve our natural areas. Your help allows the Metroparks to protect unique ecosystems that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

To register for the volunteer day, please click here: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0A49A8A72CA7F49-2018  or, contact the Metroparks Volunteer Coordinator, at naturevolunteer@metroparks.com, or 810-494-6020.

*Volunteer opportunities without a minimum of five volunteers registered will be cancelled. Volunteer opportunities may also be cancelled for severe weather events. These weather events can include extreme heat or heavy rain. Opportunities cancelled due to weather may be rescheduled. Those registered will be notified by email at least 24 hours in advance.

A liability waiver is required; if under 18, a parent/legal guardian needs to sign as well.

Time: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
