Description

Seen Any Isidia Lately? An Introduction to the Lichens of Northwest Ohio

Janet Traub and Jim Toppin

If you want to see lichens, step outside! You won’t have to go more than a few feet–maybe you’re stepping on one! Lichens grow year-round, through summer heat and winter cold. We’ll show you a variety of shapes and features that highlight the distinctions among lichens.

The Ohio Division of Wildlife’s 80-page field guide “Common Lichens of Ohio” is a great resource, and it’s free. You can download a PDF at https://tinyurl.com/OhioLichens. Printed copies are available at some park offices and nature centers. Also, we have about 50 copies and we can mail you one if you send your address to jtoppin@frontier.com.
