Wild Ones Oak Openings Chapter’s March Stewardship event will be a spring clean up and litter removal at Irwin Prairie State Nature Preserve. We’ll be working with Maureen Bogdanski of the ODNR to help collect litter along the roadways of the preserve. Please bring your own gloves and wear knee-high rubber boots to meander on the prairie side of the ditch where trash collects from floodwaters and wind. Trash grabbers and bags will be provided for volunteers. There are no on-site restrooms, but Secor Metropark is close by.

This will be a part of Clean Your Streams 365 and we will use the Clean Swell app to record the litter collected. The data will be submitted to the Ocean Conservancy.

If there is time, we will also carpool to Lou Campbell State Nature Preserve to collect litter there.

Anyone registering for this event will also need to sign this ODNR volunteer form. The form is good for the year, so you can skip this step if you’ve already volunteered this year. (There will be some printed forms available on site.)
