dusted skipper cropped

The Oak Openings Region is blessed with amazing flora and fauna.  It is also blessed to have some amazing people that enjoy and are well versed at identifying various living things that one may encounter in the Oaks.  Kitty Todd Nature Preserve has a handful of skilled volunteers that walk transects to try to identify some of the smaller beauties that grace the region.

What they discovered on their most recent walkabout on Memorial Day weekend (2014):

  • Spicebush Swallowtail
  • Little Wood Satyr
  • Clouded Sulphur
  • Pearl Crescent
  • Eastern-tailed Blue
  • Dusted Skipper
  • American Copper
  • Tiger Swallowtail
  • Giant Swallowtail
  • Dreamy Duskywing
  • Sleepy Duskywing
  • Black Swallowtail
  • Peck’s Skipper
  • Frosted Elfin
